Increased Yield Strength

The yield strength of A206 stands at a significant 30 ksi (205 MPa) in T4 and 45 ksi (310 MPa) in T71, while A206.2 aluminum alloy has a higher yield strength.

Good Machinability

Machine complex parts with confidence. This alloy offers high machinability with less than 0.1% silicon.

High Creep Strength

A206 has a robust creep strength at 200-250C. Its creep strength is 40% superior to A356 and A357.

Impressively Lightweight

The alloy has a 50% lower weight than ductile iron.

Other Properties for Top-Quality Castings

Our A206 aluminum alloy exhibits rugged qualities that can elevate the way you do business. Save time and money with premium castings and get it done the first time around. A206 provides you with:

  • Superior cycle fatigue: A206-T4 displays a higher fatigue cycle strength than other aluminum alloys.
  • Superior corrosion resistance: A206 has been used at sea for decades by the U.S. Army.
  • Impressive thermal conductivity: The thermability of A206 is an impressive 121 W/m-K.
  • High hardness: A206 has a Rockwell Hardness of 47 and a Brinell Hardness of 120.
  • Low thermal expansion: With a rate of 24.7 um/m C ranging from 20-300 degrees Celsius (68-572 Fahrenheit), A206 has low thermal expansion for better stability.
  • High shear strength: In T7 condition, A206 has a shear strength of 37.3 ksi.
  • Good elasticity: A206 exhibits 10.2 Msi for better bending resistance.
  • Robust Poisson’s ratio: Increase resistance to deformation with a Poisson’s ratio of 0.33.
  • Significant fracture toughness (K1C): 206-T7 has a fracture toughness of 39.2 ksi sqrt in.

Common Applications

As a robust alloy, A206 is ideal for applications requiring high toughness and where reliability is critical. Whether for aerospace, automotive, electronics, construction or other industries, you can use our A206 aluminum where you need increased strength and good machinability, including:

  • Bell housings
